TENNESSEE FEDERATION OF FIRE CHAPLAINS
CHAPLAIN CERTIFICATION LEVEL COURSE REQUIREMENTS
Basic Chaplain Certification Requirements (level 100):
Completed TFFC application
- Organizational appointment - Currently serving as a Fire, Rescue, or EMS Chaplain or retired
- Ecclesiastical endorsement - Certificate of Ordination or letter of Pastoral Supervision
- Annual dues of $100 paid (must be paid annually in order to maintain certification)
Completion of Federation of Fire Chaplains Basic Chaplains Academy ***
Completion of International Critical Incident Stress Foundation Individual and Group CISM Course
Completed National Incident Management System Courses 100, 200, 700 and 800
Completed Basic Emergency Service Academy or Approved Plan of Cross Training (70 hrs.)
Complete 16 hours of approved Chaplain training annually to keep certification
Intermediate Chaplain Certification Requirements (level 200):
Complete above plus: 2 years of continuous membership and active Fire, Rescue, or EMS Chaplain Service
Completion of courses in the following: ***
Suicide Intervention
LODD Incident Response Course
International Critical Incident Stress Foundation: Pastoral Crisis Intervention I
American Red Cross Psychological First Aid course
Diversity/Sensitivity training
Recommended Approval from the TFFC Educational Credentialing Committee.
Senior Chaplain Certification Requirements (level 300):
Complete above plus: 5 years of continuous membership and active Fire, Rescue, or EMS Chaplain Service
Completion of courses in the following: ***
ICISF: Pastoral Crisis Intervention II
ICISF: CISM for Families OR CISM for Children
ICISF: Team Evolution and Management OR ICISF: Strategic Planning
ICISF: CISM Response to Disaster OR CISM Response to Terrorism
Equal Opportunity, Prevention of Sexual Harassment, Management, AND Leadership
Evidence of managing Special Events or Awards Ceremonies
Attend a National Conference of the Federation of Fire Chaplains
Attend a Tennessee Fallen Firefighter Memorial Service
Participated as an Apprentice on a deployment with the TN LAST Team (LODD Response)
Recommended Approval from the TFFC Educational Credentialing Committee.
Master Chaplain Certification Requirements (level 400):
Complete above plus: 10 years of continuous membership and active Fire, Rescue, or EMS Chaplain Service
Completion of courses in the following: ***
American Red Cross Disaster Spiritual Care course.
Evidence of completion of these courses of study: Time Management, Volunteer Management, Resource Management,
Instructional Methodology, Media Relations, and Working with Angered and distraught clients.
Evidence of Teaching Emergency Service Recruits
Additional courses approved by the TFFC Educational Credentialing Committee
Participated as a team member on a deployment with TN LAST team (LODD Response)
Attend a National Fallen Firefighter Memorial Foundation Memorial Service
Completion of a Major Project approved by the TFFC Educational Credentialing Committee
Recommended Approval from the TFFC Educational Credentialing Committee
